I have changed my front cover image slightly, as after some research I found my image was too close up and would not allow information around the main image on the cover.
Having the image slightly pulled back I now have room to include features that the magazine has inside to engage the reader.
Before choosing this image as my front cover, I did have a variety of images I could of used but I found this image to be the best. I wanted to create an image that stood out by itself but had a hint of something different, to make the image visually exciting and that the magazine would them be exciting too. The images on the left are some others I took, using some lights to create slight coloured shadow effect. Taking a wide variety of images is good as you then have more options and images to play around with when it comes to putting your magazine together. As well as this, images for content pages are handy.
These images I have taken to create for an album cover for my own made up band, 'Passion in America'.I have edited on photo shop to enhance the colour effect on my models face because I feel it creates a stronger and more professional image.
I like to show my progression on my own magazine and how gradually I am creating a style in which my magazine with follow. Not only have a changed my front cover image but I have also changed my title. After lots of research and feed back from friends I have come to the conclusion that my previous title was not the right font or style for my genre MODERN.
Therefore I have found a new title...
NEW TITLE: Ethnocentric-
OLD TITLE: Sidewalk -
I find this front (Ethnocentric) to have more of a modern look to it as well as a slight young and fashionable style to keep it up to date. Looking back at drafts and ideas you already have is very helpful when wanting to develop your magazine.
Here is just an update on how much I have worked on my magazine and the things I have found that have lead me to choosing the right images and texts and placing of things on my front cover. I have also began to look into my images and begin to decide on what I would like to do with those images and just generally experimenting and playing around with my magazine and its layout. I feel the only way I can be happy with my final product of my magazine is that if I play around with all of my test footage and just get ideas and see if they work or not, looking at what I felt was bad and what I felt did not work would later on show that I can see what does work and what I do feel would work with the magazine and look good.
